Advanced AI for Teaching

Advanced AI for Teaching In-Person

This intensive workshop will showcase techniques that instructors can use to leverage Gen AI tools for advancing student learning. The workshop will feature Dr. Weitian Wang's talk "Montclair AI for Teaching and AI Education: Examples, Progresses, and Future Plans," discussing the implications of AI for teaching and the landscape of AI education programming at Montclair. After that we will share a toolbox of prompts, sample assignments, and implementation strategies for helping students learn how to use Gen AI productively and ethically. Participants will have the opportunity to work independently or in groups to construct their own assignments or activities using our toolbox. OFE staff will be available to assist and provide feedback. 
This event is co-organized by the OFE and Montclair Robotics and AI Seminar Series (RAISe).

Weitian Wang

 

Dr. Weitian Wang is an Associate Professor in the School of Computing at Montclair State University and the Director of Montclair Collaborative Robotics and Smart Systems Laboratory (CRoSS Lab) and NSF MRI MCROS Site. He has longstanding and extensive research experience in robotics, AI, human-robot interaction (HRI), and smart resilient cyber-physical systems. Dr. Wang is the recipient of Montclair State University Advising Excellence Faculty Advisor Award and Montclair State University Social Justice and Diversity Vanguard of the Year Award. Dr. Wang is enthusiastic about STEM education and develops numerous education and outreach programs for K-12, undergraduate, and graduate students. He is the founder faculty advisor of Montclair Robotics Club.

He has served as a conference Program Chair/Associate Editor/Co-chair/Publication Chair/Session Chair/TPC member for over 30 academic conferences in the past years. Dr. Wang is the Chair of IEEE NJ SMC Chapter and the Advisor of IEEE Montclair State University Student Branch. He is a senior member of IEEE and ACM and a member of ASME.

Dr. Vera Senina is a cross-disciplinary teacher and scholar in the humanities, critical theory, medical narratives, and computational linguistics. Vera has experience teaching in diverse modalities, designing innovative student-centered courses, and organizing conference panels and workshops on inclusive curriculum development, assessment strategies, and project-based learning. She also has top-company industry experience in language AI, team development, and project management.
