AI for Research: A Hands-On Playground of AI Tools for Literature Reviews In-Person
Join the Office for Faculty Excellence and University Libraries for a hands-on session focused on AI tools that are relevant to the literature review and discovery process (e.g., Research Rabbit, Elicit). In this workshop, you will be paired up with a colleague in a different discipline to test out several tools. You will have the opportunity to evaluate the tools' usefulness and functionality, and critically discuss using AI tools in the literature review process for yourself, as well as for your students. Participants should bring a laptop or a tablet.

Catherine Baird is the Online and Outreach Librarian at Montclair's University Libraries, where she is also Liaison Librarian to Educational Leadership, Educational Foundations, Counseling and Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Courtney Glore Crimmins is a Faculty Developer in the Office for Faculty Excellence and serves as OFE's Adjunct Liaison. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of World Languages and Cultures, where she teaches German. Her approach to teaching is based in collaborative, project-based learning. In both the face-to-face and online courses she teaches, students work together in small learning groups, explore authentic digital resources, and use technology to learn the language. Courtney has a Ph.D. in Germanic Language and Literature from the University of Michigan.
Jacob Bilek is the Reference & Instruction Librarian for STEM at Harry A. Sprague Library. In his role, Jacob offers support for teaching through library instruction sessions aimed at building students' critical information skills, and he supports research by engaging with students, faculty, and staff to improve through workshops, appointments, and office hours in the library.
Justin is the Interim Head for Access Services and Resource Sharing at the Montclair State University Harry A. Sprague Library. He is the library liaison to the Kinesiology, Nutrition & Food Studies, Teaching & Learning, and Writing Studies departments, and also specializes in topics related to Open education and affordability.
Dr. Vera Senina is a cross-disciplinary teacher and scholar in the humanities, critical theory, medical narratives, and computational linguistics. Vera has experience teaching in diverse modalities, designing innovative student-centered courses, and organizing conference panels and workshops on inclusive curriculum development, assessment strategies, and project-based learning. She also has top-company industry experience in language AI, team development, and project management.
