Claudio Alejo

Claudio Josuel Alejo is a dynamic higher education professional from Jersey City, New Jersey of Afro-Latino descent. His focus includes the fraternity and sorority life, residence life, the first year student experience, first-generation college student experience being a first-generation college graduate, TRiO Scholar himself. Claudio Josuel is driven by the opportunity to educate, elevate and empower his students and colleagues through his pop culture programming and narrative storytelling. He uses his authentic leadership approach to connect with students and help them navigate their journey. Claudio Josuel holds a MA in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education from Montclair State University and BA in History from New Jersey City University. A Young, Strong and Proud brother of Psi Sigma Phi Multicultural Fraternity, Inc, initiated in Spring 2013 at the Baronet Beta chapter at NJCU, Claudio Josuel has held multiple positions from the undergraduate collegiate level, to regional and national. An Alum from the Ibrahim Leadership and Dialogue Middle East program, Claudio Josuel is a world traveler who has interacted with a broad spectrum of national leaders, grassroots activists, and social and economic entrepreneurs. He is a TedX speaker and an author of two memoirs on the Dominican and Puerto Rican diaspora, where he provides a necessary and important voice about Latine college student experience. Claudio Josuel currently serves as the Assistant Director for First Generation Initiatives at Montclair State University. During his free time, when he’s not jamming out to bachata, merengue, salsa and merengue, you can catch him spending time with friends and family, playing volleyball, enjoying a live jazz performance in the city or enjoying quality time with his baby niece.
